Habib Koité Hits #1 on the World Music Charts Europe

Habib Koité has continued his success in Europe by achieving the coveted number one spot on the World Music Charts Europe in November. One of the most prestigious world music surveys, the WMCE chart placement is calculated from the votes of 50 hi-profile radio programmers across the continent.

Given the number of releases Habib is competing against, including recent releases by Manu Chao, Orchestra Baobab and Youssou N’Dour, reaching the number one spot is a great accomplishment. While it is not the first time Habib has reached the number one spot (his previous studio albums also reached the milestone), it demonstrates that he is still one of Africa’s most respected and revered recording artists.

The top 5 albums for the November chart are:

1 AFRIKI Last month: 2
Habib Koite & Bamada Mali Cumbancha

2 MADE IN DAKAR Last month: - -
Orchestra Baobab Senegal World Circuit

3 DISKO PARTIZANI Last month: 1
