Dobet Gnahoré to Perform for UNESCO in Paris March 11th.

In honor of International Women's Day, UNESCO has invited Dobet Gnahoré and her touring ensemble to perform in Paris on March 11th. By choosing Dobet to hold a soiree, UNESCO recognizes the artist both for her outspoken and thoughtful lyrical content and her captivating stage performance. On her album, Na Afriki (To Africa), Dobet address social and political issues in Africa: the struggles of women in African society, the exploitation of children, and the impact of greed and violence on the family. Dobet calls upon Africa to seek solutions from within and draw upon its own vast resources to create a better future. She sings of love and loss, as well as joy and celebration, using a wide variety of rhythms and styles that reflect her pan-African approach.
