RUPA & THE APRIL FISHES TOUR EUROPE THIS MARCH

After being featured on the home page of YouTube and reaching #1 on the iTunes world music sales charts, the buzz on the San Francisco musical adventurers is reaching a fever pitch

"eXtraOrdinary rendition crackles with energy and seethes with vivid splashes of colour. Sung in French, Spanish and English, it has a likable ability to simultaneously stimulate and soothe, its aromatic mélange of sounds throwing up surprise after surprise in a free-wheeling, all-inclusive fashion that intoxicates with every note."BBC

February 2009 - Born to Indian parents in California, raised in the US, India and southern France, and leading a double life as a musician and a doctor, singer/guitarist/composer Rupa and her polyglot band of musical renegades are taking the world by storm. In March, Rupa & the April Fishes will traverse Europe, bringing their infectious music to London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Athens and many other points in-between.
Since their last tour of Europe in early 2008, where they performed to rave reviews, Rupa & the April Fishes been winning over audiences at high profile shows including New York's Central Park SummerStage, San Francisco's OutsideLands Festival and the Montreal Jazzfest. In the past year alone, Rupa has shared the stage with Michael Franti & Spearhead, Devotchka, Jonathan Richman, the Yard Dogs Road Show and has earned a large and devoted following.
Rupa & the April Fishes recently emerged from a productive session at famed Prairie Sun Recording Studio recording the follow up to their highly praised debut album eXtraOrdinary rendition. Oz Fritz, whose credits include Tom Waits and Paris Combo, engineered the sessions. A film crew captured the creative process for an upcoming documentary on the band. The album is slated for release on the Cumbancha label in the fall of 2009.
