Acoustic Africa Tour
The second installment of the critically acclaimed journey into the heart of African music featuring Habib Koité, Oliver Mutukudzi, and Afel Bocoum

The second installment of this exhilarating musical journey focuses on the richness of contemporary and traditional African song traditions. Curated by International Music Network (IMN), the Acoustic Africa tour includes Habib Koité, the Malian superstar whose exciting concerts have endeared him to audiences worldwide, Oliver Mtukudzi, the best-selling artist in his home country of Zimbabwe, and Afel Bocoum, a guitarist, singer, and composer from Mali whose songs evoke the evolution of traditional Malian society. The Acoustic Africa tour was inspired by the Putumayo World Music compilation of the same name that featured many of Africa’s greatest singer-songwriters in stripped down displays of acoustic mastery.

The Acoustic Africa Tour begins February 26th and continues through April.

Rupa & The April Fishes
"Combining the sensual lyricism of Latin American nueva trova with the rhythmic punch of cumbia and the theatricality of cabaret, the April Fishes' sound is ecstatic and powerfully evocative." – LA TIMES

Rupa & the April Fishes hold up a carnival mirror to life and present a warped, humorous and occasionally disquieting reflection. With their enchanting mix of chic French nouvelle vague, rousing Latin alternative grooves, energetic Gypsy swing, and dreamy Indian ragas, the trend-setting band is spearheading a multicultural movement that is redefining the sound of contemporary music.

Sequestered beneath Rupa’s infectious and captivating melodies are thought-provoking themes that address life, love, art, death and the real and artificial divisions that keep us apart. The San Francisco- based musical agitators are specialists in crossing borders and building bridges and on their acclaimed album, este mundo, they effortlessly blur the boundaries of genre and geography to create a sound Time Out has called, "global agit-pop".

Chiwoniso
“Standing on the verge of global diva stardom with the likes of Oumou Sangare and Angelique Kidjo, Chiwoniso channels Sheryl Crow and Joan Baez” - Village Voice

Zimbabwe’s Chiwoniso performs entrancing and uplifting songs with ancient soul and modern spirit. Backed by the mesmerizing interlocking melodies of the mbira and the deep grooves of an all-star lineup featuring some of Zimbabwe and South Africa’s top musicians, Chiwoniso’s voice resounds with defiant strength and profound tenderness. With a sound that recalls the fire of Angelique Kidjo, the inspiration of Oliver Mtukudzi, the rebellion of Thomas Mapfumo, and the soul of India.Aire, Chiwoniso is one of the most exciting talents in African music today.
